Philosopher’s Perch

The flagship suite of Teniqua Treetops was the first suite built. To avoid removing or damaging the majestic indigenous trees, we incorporated them into the design. The suite flows around the trees. The kitchen curves around one side of the deck. The bathroom opens onto the dense forest.

Relax on the deck and soak in the soft sounds of the vibrant forest. This is one of our most popular suites. Guests have said it’s like living in a Robinson Crusoe treehouse with the occasional Vervet monkey playing in the trees.

This suite is closed off during winter, but should you still wish to book, please make contact with the office.

Forest Elders

This suite has two large bedrooms, a shared bathroom and the company of the famed Knysna Turaco (Knysna Lourie) who regularly have one-on-one combat with the bedroom windows.

A beautiful glass stained door leads to the outside deck providing forever views of the Karatara Gorge and the forest.

This boutique wedding venue is a hidden gem, tucked away in the indigenous Knysna forest.

Surrounded by towering Milkwoods and Yellowwoods, it offers an intimate and tranquil setting for your special day.

The centrepiece of this enchanting venue is the Forest Hollow, where you can exchange your vows amid nature’s beauty.

The reception area can currently hold a maximum of 30 guests and is adjacent to the bar.

Easy access to the kitchen ensures that we have a number of options for catering.

Very warm welcome when I arrived. We were accompanied by the front desk lady whom was friendly and very helpful. The unit was well planned out and equiped with everything needed. The place was very clean and the bed was pleasant to sleep on. They were so thoughtfull there was mosquito repellent also and all the necessary toiletries to use. I was very impressed with this place service and craftsmanship of the units. Well done you have impressed me.

I was regrettably disappointed with our overal stay. We were very excited and looking forward to the weekend away.First impressions last…on arrival the swimming pool and deck was full of leaves and lawn unkept (just a quick sweep and clean pool could remedy this) but it does dampen the arrival. The suite we stayed in really needs upkeep/updating. (Torn couch, dirty stained windows)…Does not project the luxury as portrayed on the site.Service was great, friendly and helpful.Kitchen is well equip.

We spent 3 nights at the incredibly special Teniqua Treetops in the forest outside Sedgefield. What a totally unique place it is, with 8 chalets combining timber, glass and wood, built into the indigenous forest. If you want a "resort or hotel" getaway, then it's probably not for you, but if you love nature and want to experience the tranquility of the forest, and in a 100% sustainable way, then THIS is a place you will enjoy. And if you are lucky you'll have a friendly Knysna Loerie keeping you company over breakfast. It's entirely off grid and sustainable, with solar panels providing the electrical needs (no load shedding here) and purified water from natural sources. I really can't recommend this place enough.

Beautiful view in a relaxing setting. It was a great place to start our holiday and the setting turbocharged the wind down from work. We felt like we were completely on our own in nature as the cabins are positioned not to see each other. The bird song is amazing. I would definitely recommend a few nights here. The kitchen has all the basics to cook and salt, pepper, coffee, etc. Just bring food and braai supplies.
